Colorful layout with Pretty Basics

Hello and good morning! ^__^

It's the weekend and I hope you are also chilling and thinking of catching up with all that crafting!

I'm Halak and today I'll be taking you through a tutorial using the vibrant Pretty Basics paper pack by Papericious. (A fun project to try out this weekend, what say?)

Let's get started!

It all began with the layering of papers.

Pretty Basics is so colorful and gorgeous that I simply couldn't help myself! I wanted to use all the pattern papers from this one! So I came up with a background that uses 5 different sheets.

Check it out :

First, I arranged them loosely in this manner for my layout.

After this, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped a sentiment.

I wanted an uplifting motivating sentiment that I could frame, so I went for this one.

Next I did a little stamping around it followed by some stenciling using blue and purple inks.

Notice that I added a few bits of washi tape too.

After this step, I wanted some more layering so decided to use pieces from Pretty Basics sheets for that.

With all that thinking, hand-tearing the paper and gluing this is what my base looked like :

So colorful!

Tip : Notice that I adhered all pattern papers to right hand side (RHS) top and bottom edges.

Why did I do that?
To maintain balance.

The design strips on my layout background are focusing towards the LHS.
If I didn't balance it out by building up layers on RHS, the project would not be visually pleasing.

Remember, whenever you create a project, think of the background and tie-in your elements with it while maintaining balance.

Once this was done, I arranged and glued my pattern papers in the format shown in the second picture and adhered based over it.

Here's the picture :

I wanted a tiny portion of the pattern paper towards the RHS bottom too, so I cut up a few strips and glued them.

Also added a red butterfly punch out.

Finally gave the butterfly a coat of sparkle and adhered a few sequins to finish it off!

That's how I did it!

Tip : I used a whole bunch of colors because I wanted my project to be all colorful but if you don't want that, you can pick a color scheme you like and work with that.
Example : Warm colors like red, orange and cool colors like blue and green etc.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will give it a go! ^__^ In case of any difficulty, feel free to ask about this project in the comments below and I will most certainly reply to it!

Signing off with a close up, till next time dear friends!

Birthday layout with tutorial

Hello everyone,

its Kavitha here today and i am sharing a layout tutorial with "Happy birthday" collection.
This collection is so happy and bright and i  just love the prints. So i decided to make a birthday theme layout for a little girl. This is totally different from my usual mixed media layouts, its clean and cluttered style with more of colors and layers and still with lots of white space left, hope you like this attempt of mine.

I took a rough 12 by 12 sheet and planned my layout first.I marked the the area where i want the pattern paper, cut them out n used as template.
Using the template i cut the pattern papers as shown
Now i glued down the papers and used a fussy cut banner from the pattern paper collection
I cut down some pattern papers in various sizes from the collection for my layers,as my base is white and the pattern papers also has more white i used some papers from pretty basics collection for my first layer so that it will elevate the layout from the background(both the collections matches so well).
I used lots of stickers  and enamel dots to make it more fun n colorful
Few close ups..

Thank you for stopping by.

Happy crafting,

A Layout using Often

Hello and Good Morning! ^__^

I'm Halak and I am pretty excited to showcase the super awesome Often Paper Pack by Papericious along with the Co-ordinating Die-cuts!

(I secretly think that they have named this often because they knew, that is paper pack is going to be used pretty often by crafters! LOL)

What's special about this collection you ask?
Everything!
The colors are super bright, fresh and fun! Suitable for a variety of occasions, this collection is a MUST BUY of 2015!

I made a layout using this! My first ever layout too!

Check out some cool close-ups!

I have cut these medallions from one of the sheets of Often paper pack.
Ofcourse I had to jazz them up using some glitter and that's exactly what I did!

Look at the die-cuts! They are just as beautiful and vibrant as the paper pack and oh the quality!

I was amazed at the quality of these die-cuts, trust me, they are way better than many international counterparts and go beautifully with the Often paper pack.

All the die-cuts used on here (including that lovely bloom) are from Papericious.

If you notice the blue metallic foil finish stars on the layout, there is a funny story about it... I noticed that one of the designs from the Often collection features a beautiful navy blue background with white stars, and when I saw it, I began hunting for my blue metallic decorations to pair with it, only to realize after an hour that the embellishment jar was under my phone! LOL!

So that's about it dear friends, do let me know what you think! I love hearing from you.

(P.S. Incase you were wondering, who's in the picture, well they are two of my most favorite people in the world! Mum and sibling!)

Till next time! *Hugs*
