DIY File Holder

Hi lovely people,
Today I will be sharing with you an easy tutorial on making a file holder featuring my favorite set of Papericious pattern papers
I have made two sizes of file holders to keep my 12"x 12" and 6"x 6"  pattern papers all organised and sorted.
Making these was on my list for sometime now.So lets start with the tutorial.
I have taken corrugated sheet(from old packaging) and cut them to sizes which fits in 12x12" and 6x6" papers easily.
Large File Holder: 2 pcs (13" x 11.5 "); 1 pc (13"x 4"); 1 pc (11.5"x 4")
 Small File Holder: 2 pcs (7" x 3.5"); 1 pc ( 8.5"x 7"); 1 pc (7" x 3.5")
For getting all the sides together I have used painters tape, you can also use got glue gun to adhere all the sides in place.

I have painted the edges of the corrugated sheet using the country grey chalk paint (Large file holder). This is how it looks when taped.

I have painted the edges with  brick red chalk paint (small file holder).
Next step took Azalein paper pack and trimmed papers to respective sides (approx. 1cm smaller).

For the smaller file holder I have used the Ethereal paper pack and trimmed the pattern paper (approx. 1cm smaller).

I have embellished the file holder with some fussy cut images and flowers and lace.

That's all from my side.
Hope the easy tutorial inspired you to create one for yourself.

I have created a key holder using the mdf shadow box.I have also used the 3d lamp post .I love the prints from this pack and have done lots of fussy cutting and layered the images to give little depth to shadow box layout.

Whimsical Desk Organiser

Hey lovely people,
I have an easy tutorial today for you. I am working with Papericious mdf desk organiser and Whimsical paper pack.
  • Take a sandpaper and sand the edges to a smooth finish.
  • Brush away all the excess dust from the surface of the organiser.
  • I have used Cyber grape chalk paint to paint the inside of the desk organiser.
  • Next measure the sides of the organiser where you would want to place the pattern paper. Mark and cut the pattern paper to the measurements.
  • I have used Papericious Decoupage glue to adhere the pattern paper onto the mdf surface. I love this glue especially since the pattern paper is thick. Its perfect for adhering thick papers to mdf surfaces.
  • Use a squeeze/old credit card to smooth out the surface of all wrinkles and air bubbles trapped beneath the pattern paper.
  • I have used Archival ink to define the edges.
  • Seal your desk organiser with varnish.

Now to the part I love the most..Embellishing!! I have used images from the pattern paper and done some fussy cutting. Used foam tape to adhere it to the organiser surface. And not to forget the amazing and intricate designs from the Papericious White Chippis. I have used the Linear Florish here.

Hope you would love to try something like this for your desk.Mine would be holding my pens, planner, nuvo bottles...Do share with us what all your desk organiser holds.
Do join us for the ongoing challenge.

Here is Lekha's project to inspire you to play along:
My current favourite paper pack is the Papericious Whimsical Paper Pack. I am altering an old videotape box! (Yes, now that's gonna be super old!). I would later be using this as a pretty box to house my zig markers. I have first painted the box using Cyber Grape Chalk Paint and then added papers in layers and fussy cut images from the Paper pack. The spine of the box has been given a new look using the Circle Flourish Lace Trim from Papericious. Look at the Butterfly Chipboard, it's such a delicate and intricate design. Another favourite this season is the white chippies, I have used the Cycle chippie from the fancy fence set. To finish the box, I have scattered few sequins from the Sugar Plum Mix

And now, here is a look at our creation (Sunila & Aditi):
We have decorated the Papericious MDF Desk Organiser using the Blush Paper Pack- and Papericious Decoupage Glue. We fussy cut elements from the paper pack to use as embellishments. We used the Plum Chalk Paint to paint the remaining sides. We used the Mermaid Flower white chippies and Butterfly Mini Shakers to decorate it further.

Hope you're inspired and we look forward to your participation!
