Festive Beginning with Papericious "Shabby Brown"

11:52 am Artforte 3 Comments

Hello Friends

The Monsoon is here and the soothing drops of rains bring cheer all around. The birds start to sing, the trees start to put on new leaves and we all start preparing ourselves for an extended festive season ahead – beginning with Teej, Rakhi, Janmashtmi, Onam..et. all.

To celebrate this lovely season and to prepare ourselves for the festivities, I am presenting today a unique hand crafted gift box.

This hand crafted dry-fruit box is made in MDF wood and ornated with lovely Papericious pattern paper stack called “Shabby Brown”. The sides of the box has been exquisitely with modelling paste, gesso and inka gold and then used varnish also to protect the box. It has 4 chambers inside which can house different kinds of dry fruits. The look and feel of the box can be customized for the occasion and the immense collection of Papercious pattern papers/stacks can be used to choose the apt color and look of the box that you or the receiver likes.
So this Monsoon, wedding and festival season, make your loved ones exclaim in praise of your choice and the novel way of gifting.

Let's alter something!

11:12 am Unknown 7 Comments

Hello and good morning! ^__^

I know it's a Monday but on the positive side, no scorching sun! The weather is cool and pleasant!

I'm Halak and today's project features an altered notebook cover.

Here's what the notebook looked like before altering :

Yeah... pretty weird...

It had been lying with me for ages so I thought... hey, let's alter that ghastly cover! Lol!

I used the super pretty Pattern Collection Vol 1 paper pack by Papericious to create a new cover for my notebook.

Here's the finished product :

What say? A total transformation, kinda like those before and after ads. :P

I love the designs in this set! Pattern Collection Volume 1 is a paper pack that's complete by itself. It's got a stunning assortment of beautiful patterns featuring these classic colors : pink, white, grey and black.

The reverse of the notebook was kept pretty simple.

And that's that! I really enjoyed altering the notebook. My sibling was thrilled on receiving it and decided to make it her everyday journal. ^__^

I hope you liked it and thank you so much for stopping by! *Big Panda Hugs*

Hello Everyone,
Shilpa here,

I am loving this new paper collection- Pretty Basics by Papericious!!

I made a Fold Over Gift box with those lovely papers. I've tutorial here as well, hope you will enjoy it. (source: Pinterest)

Papers are so pretty, I just diecut them to decorate the box.

For the base, I used white card stock , Size 15*6"
Scored the lines 6"-3"-6"

When I folded it at scored lines, I got flap for the box.

Next, I took 10" square white card stock to make inside box.
Scored the lines 3" along each side.

Cut at four corners, attach the sides, to make the box.

here you will find, base of the box is ready.

I decorated it using polka dot papers from Pretty basics and I've used adhesive button from Papericious.

here are more views

Do try this easy box of your own!! And Share it on our Facebook page
We love to see what you make!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Colorful layout with Pretty Basics

11:08 am Unknown 8 Comments

Hello and good morning! ^__^

It's the weekend and I hope you are also chilling and thinking of catching up with all that crafting!

I'm Halak and today I'll be taking you through a tutorial using the vibrant Pretty Basics paper pack by Papericious. (A fun project to try out this weekend, what say?)

Let's get started!

It all began with the layering of papers.

Pretty Basics is so colorful and gorgeous that I simply couldn't help myself! I wanted to use all the pattern papers from this one! So I came up with a background that uses 5 different sheets.

Check it out :

First, I arranged them loosely in this manner for my layout.

After this, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped a sentiment.

I wanted an uplifting motivating sentiment that I could frame, so I went for this one.

Next I did a little stamping around it followed by some stenciling using blue and purple inks.

Notice that I added a few bits of washi tape too.

After this step, I wanted some more layering so decided to use pieces from Pretty Basics sheets for that.

With all that thinking, hand-tearing the paper and gluing this is what my base looked like :

So colorful!

Tip : Notice that I adhered all pattern papers to right hand side (RHS) top and bottom edges.

Why did I do that?
To maintain balance.

The design strips on my layout background are focusing towards the LHS.
If I didn't balance it out by building up layers on RHS, the project would not be visually pleasing.

Remember, whenever you create a project, think of the background and tie-in your elements with it while maintaining balance.

Once this was done, I arranged and glued my pattern papers in the format shown in the second picture and adhered based over it.

Here's the picture :

I wanted a tiny portion of the pattern paper towards the RHS bottom too, so I cut up a few strips and glued them.

Also added a red butterfly punch out.

Finally gave the butterfly a coat of sparkle and adhered a few sequins to finish it off!

That's how I did it!

Tip : I used a whole bunch of colors because I wanted my project to be all colorful but if you don't want that, you can pick a color scheme you like and work with that.
Example : Warm colors like red, orange and cool colors like blue and green etc.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will give it a go! ^__^ In case of any difficulty, feel free to ask about this project in the comments below and I will most certainly reply to it!

Signing off with a close up, till next time dear friends!

The Happiness Box!!!!

10:00 am Manu Gupta 4 Comments

Hello Everyone!!!

This is Manu here and I have a surprise for you, A Happiness box is what I call it!!!
I'm sure you all must have gotten your this months release by now?? No, why wait?? grab these super yumm papers soon (I'm gonna get a few more for myself very soon) The new release i.e 'Happy Birthday' and 'Pretty Basics' is a super bright and fun filled one!!!

Being true to it's name, I used the 'Pretty Basics' collection to make up this pretty box!!! The Happiness Box!!!

Liked the Teaser?? Lets checkout the complete project!!!!
Here's the Box for you!!!

The top panel!!

I also have a tutorial on how to make this one!!! It's pretty simple and easy peasy!

1. Take a 12*12 cardstock and score it along 4'' and 8'' on two sides, you will end up having 4" square on your cardstock.
2. Now, cut through(lets say top right hand one) one flap on each side and then fold your box in from all the ends, you will end up having a box like in the picture below.
3. To make the lid, since my box width is 4", I took a 7" square (now here's the tip, I measure 7.1" ie. 1MM extra on two sides so that the box can go inside the lid easily) and then score at 1.5" at all the ends. Shape it like the lid .
4. Tadaaaa, your box is ready to be embellished!!! Go wild with making your Happiness box pretty and full of fun!!

I made a cake inside and embellished it with flowers. For the flaps, I had 4 sentiments along 4 sides and then left 4 places empty to put the pictures!!!

Here's the box completely opened up!

A  Few more closeups of the box !!

I hope you liked the Happiness box, do try making one for yourself and do not forget to share your creation with us!
Ohh yeah, you have 2 more days until 10th to enter into this months challenge!!!
Find all about the challenge here!
This months challenge is a treat for all you vintage lovers!! Go, go, check it all out!!
